The Scottish Food and Drink fortnight will be marked in Elgin this weekend, but with a twist.
Elgin’s Business Interest District (BID) are celebrating Scottish Food and marking the 2011 Rugby World Cup finals in a single event.
Stalls laid out in the centre of town will offer traditional and local refreshments from all the participating countries battling their way to glory in New Zealand.
On the Boots side of St Giles Church there will be a food and drink tasting aisle, where visitors can sample the delights produced by a number of city centre businesses.
The Moray Farmers Market will also be offering their normal high quality brand of local, hand-made goods, while amongst the food demonstrations will be a presentation from Olive Tree Chocolates.
Throughout the day cookery demonstrations will be provided by Wendy Barrie, while tastings from the nations taking part in the World Cup will be alongside traditional local food including Cullen Skink.
To burn off those extra calories visitors can test their rugby skills, or lack of them, with a rugby inflatable.
Entertainment will be provided on the day from Bubbles the Clown, the Elgin and District Pipe Band and ‘Nae Reel’.
There is also a chance to ‘name the dish’, a competition that provides entrants the opportunity to win £50, £30 or £25 vouchers for use at a city centre retailer.
More information on the day can be found on the new Elgin Bid Facebook
